Adarrots is music, it is Basque folk music, fusion, rhythm, sensations… It is enjoying making, and making others enjoy.
This Biscayan septet was created with the clear purpose of keeping Basque folk music alive, as the root of their culture, successfully adapting and fusing ancestral rhythms and sounds with more current ones to create evocative music that transports us to different life situations and events, both past and present.
Since its founding at the end of 2004, the group has boasted numerous recognitions and a discography that shows their creativity, improvement, and evolution through the years. In 2009 the group won the Mendebala Folk competition for novice bands, which led to their first studio album Haizekadak.
In 2010 they won the First National Prize and in 2011 the Eurofolk First European International Prize for best folk band. In 2012 they released their second album Zazpi ditut, evidence of the group’s musical evolution.
These accomplishments culminated in 2015 when they toured their third album Adarraren hotsa. Nahia egi bihurtzearen bidea, an ambitious project honoringthe band’s 10th anniversary that includes a DVD with a documentary and a CD with 10 tracks, one for each year of the band’s history.
At present, the group has a new live show with a forceful sound and stage presence that does not take from the natural essence that defines the band. Our secret lies in the exploration of all possibilities and the creation of different –even contradictory – sensations, transforming them into good music.
